Our idea was to enable friends and families to sit and eat together no matter what their dietary needs or choices were. This flexitarian approach to our menu is what we have become popular for.
Our menu is a little different to the standard sarnie or salad. We love flavour, using fresh herbs, spices, micro-herbs and homemade dressings. We strive to make even the humble toastie into a flavour explosion experience. Understanding that homemade is always better, our cakes, savouries, burgers, salads are all made in our kitchen. We change our menu with the seasons and there are the firm favourites that always remain.
Our café style would be a little like our food, something a little different. We are cosy, quaint, quirky and incredibly welcoming. We often hear, ‘I’ve not seen that before’ whether about our menu and especially the décor. Being the only café on the High Street with a garden means we have created a little oasis of calm. Sitting in the sunshine and greenery can help soothe away any stress.
Finally, being part of something, whether our family or community, is incredibly important to us. It’s maybe the Welsh childhood thing, saying, ‘hello’ to everyone is what we do. We love that we have our regulars, knowing their names, their stories and ‘usual’ orders. The best feeling is seeing our café full, everyone chatting, people sharing tables and still chatting, it is about being part of something. So, grab your friends, or family or a stranger, find a table, soak up the atmosphere and become part of the Red Onion Café family.

Beautiful food in quirky surroundings
Absolutely beautiful food! I had the sweet potato hash which was truly delicious. I loved the shop, it was quaint and quirky. I cannot recommend this place enough!
